In this week’s episode of The Bookshop at the End of the Internet, author Nikesha Elise Williams talks about her novel, Four Women. Nikesha is an award-winning news producer who covered the Trayvon Martin killing and similar events, but she wondered how many cases involving black women and girls were not receiving the same degree of press coverage. Inspired by what she was not seeing in the news, Nikesha wrote Four Women, a story about four African-American women who are forced together by a single event, all while the world watches. Tune in to hear Nikesha discuss her writing journey, how her experience in the world of news media inspires and informs her stories, and how she was forced to write her debut novel . . . twice.
